I loved the change in animation style each time, it made this at least 5x funnier. XD

Madness Scene Maker Beta2

"Pointless...for now"

date: April 19, 2008

Feels pointless the way it is. I get the idea, build a scene as if it was a snapshot of one of the Madness games/cartoons.

If you want a simple suggestion, add buttons that will place new objects of a certain type on the scene rather than dragging what is available on the side-screen.
Just so you can click a button and the object pops up on the middle of the screen to be moved around.

If you want a more complex suggestion, add key recognition that allows objects to be rotated and flipped. In other words, press 'q' and drag an object to rotate it and press 'a' and drag an object o flip it.

If you want a very complex suggestion, add an action button so that once the scene is filled, all the objects will come to life, and the little guys will start killing each other.

Dragonoids

"Good."

submission: Dragonoids
date: April 19, 2008

You are right, the dragon is hypnotizing.
At first I thought you just had to dodge the rocks, ouch, that would be hard.
Seems pretty easy as it is now. Not great, but good enough. ;)

GeoVector

"Great, but slow and easy"

submission: GeoVector

Nice style and idea. Good way of forcing players to think rather than blasting away everything as fast as possible.
It was fun, but felt very sluggish even on low quality.
Overall, kinda easy and levels transition slowly.
Still, it matched up to my Daft Punk music pretty good. XD

Author's Response:

Thanks for the helpful review!

I'm an idiot though. Only weeks after releasing the game it dawned on me (while I was having a shower) what the cause of the lag was. It wasn't the backround. It wasn't the explosion effects...

I had overused the 'for' function in AS. I really do need to get better at AS lol.

My next game won't have this lag problem :) and I'm glad you like my style!

Compulse

"Simply Soothing"

submission: Compulse
date: April 9, 2008

Great variance between difficulties.
Very relaxing and interesting strategy.
Wonderful, soothing music
Straight-forward, simple design.

I always like games that integrate the instructions within the gameplay, nicely done.

The only thing slightly negative I could add is that the music didn't feel right.
The music choice was wonderful for the type of game (ambient + strategy = win), but it did feel strange to have this music (Chinese-themed?) without a hint of eastern style in the graphical style.
